Gause: presence in halls and on field

The safety of West Florence is very important and security guards provide peace to students and teachers. The security guard is job only for very responsible people. One of them is Racheed Gause - one of our our new security guards. Everyday he drives two hours from Columbia to Florence to work as a security guard and assistant football coach

“From what I heard from different people - West Florence was bad. But being here and talking to the kids - I don’t think it is

bad at all. I think people have a bad presumption, because they don’t actually know. But I like the kids here, they seem very generous,” he said

After graduating from Coastal Carolina University, he has been coaching for five years. He was interested in sports from the childhood. Gause is from very football-loving family. He and his three older brothers love playing football and two of his brothers and a cousin play on the national level.

“I grew up in an athletic family - dad plays sports, both sides of the family play sports. I did even earn the athletic scholarship,” Gause said

Gause’s favourite college team is the Carolina Gamecocks and for the pros it is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He has a 2 year-old son - Jace.

“He is a blessing. Everyday I learn something new from him.. Due to complication of his early birth, my wife had 6 surgeries since he was born. So it’s been a long road and she is back to work now,” he said

One of his favourite things is music.

“I am a fan of everything. I love Maroon 5; also I like some rap music. When I played football in the college, I used to listen to slow music before game. I know it sounds kind of crazy but it got me ready who I needed to be,” he said

Gause also likes watching movies. His favourite movie is Any Given Sunday.
