Julie LeMaster: coaching students in school, life

Interacting with students and helping them find their passion is what West Florence Graduation Coach Julie LeMaster does.

“I love working with students, it doesn’t matter what kind of background they come from,” said LeMaser. “I really enjoy interacting with students; it just makes life very fun.”

Her Education and Experience

LeMaster graduated from South Florence High School but says her loyalty stands with WF. She has a Masters’ degree in Business, from the University of South Carolina. She specialized in Human Resources, which is usually the department of a company that manages and trains employees. This makes her perfect for the job of Graduation Coach.

Her Family

LeMaster has been married to her husband, Robert, for 20 years. They have two sons, a junior here at West Florence and a 5th grader. She considers her dog, Spencer, her shadow. Her husband also graduated from South Florence, where both of their mothers work.

Her Hobbies

LeMaster enjoys getting out and exercising. She reads a lot and loves family movie night. But reading and tennis are her top two activities. She also loves learning new things.

Her Job

Even though LeMaster is a graduation coach, she works with students that are not seniors as well. She talks to them if they may not be doing well in class or if they have attendance issues. Helping students see and realize their potential motivates her. In five years, LeMaster hopes to still be here at WF helping students figure out their next steps in life.

“For our students to be successful and lead a productive life, they must be able to graduate high school with the skills needed to succeed in post-secondary education or the workforce,” said LeMaster. “I want each student to know they are supported, to believe they can do it, to remove any barriers to graduation, and plan life after high school. But it starts with them believing in themselves. That is my main message to the students I work with regularly."
