Shamblen here for students
West Florence Algebra 2 teacher Ron Shamblen, is athletic, organized, outgoing, and an all around fun guy. He is a teacher who wants to make a change within the teaching profession by bonding, making connections, and building relationships with his students. His students and the staff at West describe him as nice to be around and a great friend.
“I came here to West because I heard that the community here cares about the students and I just knew I wanted to become a part of that,” Shamblen said.
Shamblen wants to help his students to the very best of his abilities; he wants them to be able to trust him enough to share something that may be affecting their learning or life in general. He hopes to make an impact on his students. He said one of the best parts of teaching is when his old students come back to see them and he sees how much they have grown.
“If I had to choose between having my thoughts read aloud or reading people's minds, Iwould read people's minds because then if a student needs help with something I'll know and I'll be there to help,” Shamblen said, applying his philosophies of teaching to a funny hypothetical question.
Shamblen also indulges in his athletic side; he plays soccer and he is also Sneed Middle School’s Girls Soccer coach. He also recently ran a 11.2 mile race, as well, his first time trying it. Shamblen believes if you try something, put your full effort into it, and never give up.
Shamblen likes to think of life as a glass that is halfway filled. He sometimes has views that others don’t see. A different mindset from others is great in some aspects.
“If I could be any animal, I would be a Silverback gorilla, because everyone says the Lion is the King of the Jungle, but I think it's the Gorilla,” Shamblen said.
WF is glad to have Shamblen’s fun attitude, drive, and work ethic as a Shining Knight Teacher!
