Mahoney: Know yourself!

For Social Studies teacher, Sean Mahoney, Geography is his world! Mahoney said the best part of teaching is working with the students and watching the students grow and learn everyday.

Mahoney uses technology in the classroom by using his computer, and the smart board to teach the students. If a student is failing his class, he said he would ask them what they are struggling with and give them a good pep talk.

When Mr.Mahoney isn't at school he is working on spending time with his wife and his kids. His wife has a weird work schedule so he barely gets to see her, and his kids are always in school so it’s neat when they do get to spend time together .

Teaching can be stressful sometimes; Mahoney said when he gets stressed out he usually counts to 10.

“If I could go anywhere in the world it would be Florida because it’s hot there and I love to be in places where it is hot,” he said.

In five years, he wants to still be working at West Florence High School and have a healthy home.

Mahoney had one piece of advice to give all students.

“Know yourself better than anyone. Whether it’s studying, your health (physical AND mental), whatever works for you,” he said.
