Tameko Wilson: teacher and advocate
Tameko Wilson is a new science teacher at West Florence High School; she is currently teaching ninth grade. This is her 14th year as a teacher
"I've been teaching middle school for 13 years, so I am positive I will enjoy teaching freshmen," said Wilson.
Wilson is the the mother of one daughter and the sister to two other siblings; she enjoys reading, shopping, and helping out at her church in her free time. She loves to snack on Chick-Fil-A waffle fries while reading a good book. Before she was a teacher she worked at Mcleod Hospital; she's currently enrolled in graduate school.
Wilson’s hometown is Manning,South Carolina where she graduated from Manning High school.
As she meets different kids on a daily basis, she encourages them all to have confidence and don't let anyone tell them that they can't do something.
Wilson is currently working on her Doctoral degree in public health. She loves teaching but has always dreamed of working with NAMI, National Alliance for Mental Illness. She loves helping young people and just wants to be an advocate for youth people who suffer with suicide, depression and mental illnesses.
If there's one thing Wilson could tell students it would be: "Be your best you."
