Suzannah Banister: consistency is key!

Meet Suzannah Banister. She is WF’s new study and skills teacher and with her motto, ”consistency is the key,” Banister believes she will improve every student’s study skills. Banister graduated from McDaniel college in Maryland where she majored in communication and graphic design.

Here at West Florence, this is her first time teaching high school students. Banister has already started off the year much positivism and wishes everyone here at school to always be optimistic as well.

She also knows that teenagers usually struggle with their emotions and often are troubled and she said that if she could have any superpowers, she would like to change teenagers’ moods. Not only she is positive and optimistic herself but she wishes everyone surrounding her to be like that as well.

Miss B, as she likes to be called, makes sure her class is very interactive and each day she hopes her students learn something new, in addition to earning good grades.

To make sure everyone does that, she reminds her students to always set a goal each week, and she also tries to spice it up a bit by adding something different each week.

So how is she adapting to life at WF? Banister said that the staff is very professional and friendly, as well as the students, but learning everyone’s name’s can be hard sometimes .

West is definitely not a small high school, so a lot of people may understand her struggle as well.

Banister said she chose to become a teacher because she really likes interacting and communicating with people. When she is not making sure all of her students are happy and learning, Banister also likes to take time for herself. She said her greatest hobby is is cooking and she is always learning new recipes.
