New school counselor Courtney Graham!

Two years ago, a young lady graduated from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee with a Master’s in Counseling. Her name is Courtney Graham. Now, she works at West Florence High School as a school counselor.

Graham said she enjoys working at West Florence.

”West Florence is a big and nice school. The people are nice and there are lots of differences but different in many good ways. I love being here,” she said.

One of the differences is the exchange students. West Florence has eight foreign exchange students which come from eight countries: Turkey, Indonesia, Brazil, Egypt, Albania, Turkmenistan, Tunisia and Lebanon.

Graham said she thinks it is great to having them here, not only for the West Florence’s students who can learn from them but they also learn about how West Florence works. She has some good advice for all students.

“Just enjoy your time and do your best,” she said.

Graham loves her job of helping students who have problems in taking classes. They usually come to her in the first week of school to ask for some advice.

“If they don’t know which classes they want to take, I always ask what will they do after graduation or anything that relates to their plans. But if they do not have any plans we just go to the state’s requirements for graduation,” she explained.

Graham has her own way to face the situation when she feel bored with her job, which is by seeing other things to do differently. But so far she has not felt bored; she said she just needs to learn how to manage her time and get used to the school’s and state’s policies because she graduated from different state.

In the spare time, Graham usually plays with her dog named Auzie, reads books

or travels. She is not married yet but she enjoy her time with her family--Mom and Dad.
