Love of math, helping others learn led Bunten to teaching
Andrea Bunten is a Pre-Calculus and Algebra 3 teacher who originates from Missouri. Bunten says that she enjoyed her calculus teacher in senior year and that experience inspired her to want to pursue math. Knowing her love for math and that she had always wanted to become a teacher, things just seemed to fall into place.
Bunten had spent seven years teaching in the Midwest. She then decided after living two years in Florence and teaching middle school that she wanted to teach at a higher education level. Bunten landed at WFHS and is teaching high school students this year for the first time.
One of Bunten’s top idols is her college professor, Mark Brown. She said that he was a great professor and that he treated every student well. A lot of people struggle with math and many people don’t enjoy it, but Bunten says that she was always very good at math and one of the many inspirations of her choosing math was because many people don’t like it. She wants to help them learn.
Bunten said she is liking it here at WF and that she is looking forward to sharing her passion for math with her students. If you happen to have her as a teacher or see her in the halls, be sure to make her feel welcomed.
