Frye happy to be at WF
Deanne Frye, a new WF counselor, has been working in education for 18 years, some of those years teaching in the classroom. Frye was excited to receive a call from Dowdell, asking her to join the WF counseling staff.
She says her transition to WF has been very easy, despite living in Hartsville and not knowing very many people in Florence.
One of Frye’s main goals is “to help students look beyond just the classroom and help them figure out why they're in the classroom.” Some advice she would like to give new or incoming students is: “Find your people; I do believe that everybody has their people, because they're the ones you'll lean on during tough times.”
Frye is married and has two children. Her father is a patient man who had to be raising her and three older brothers. He also happens to be her role model.
According to Frye she was a mediocre student and wishes she had studied more. Also in her high school years, she was a cheerleader.
Her taste in music is very diverse, ranging from Elvis Presley in the 50s and 60s to Madonna and Cindy Lauper in the 70s and 80s. Her playlist, as she says, is very eclectic.
Welcome, Mrs. Frye, to WF!
