Brenna Ashe: passion for history and learning

Ms. Brenna Ashe is a history teacher at WF. She is a young and inspiring teacher who loves teaching.

Growing up she had amazing and impactful people who inspired a love of learning in her life. This factor in her life made her pursue her dream as a teacher. She now wants to inspire her students like her peers once inspired her. Before teaching at WF, Ashe graduated from Presbyterian College. While there, she majored in history and political science and minored in pre-law. In college, she worked as a teacher assistant and a residential assistant.

After college Ashe interviewed with different schools, but she says she felt really happy at WF. Everyone was very welcoming, kind, and honest to her. So she landed a job here, with this being her first year teaching.

While teaching she said she talks really fast when she is nervous or excited. Sometimes, her students tell her to slow down because of this habit. She feels that this is her weakness when teaching.

She fell in love with history and the narrative behind it. She gives her students something to compare in their daily life with history and gives them group assignments to make learning fun. Her advice for students would be try your best and focus on the person you are, be honest and ask questions.

During her free time Ashe likes watching “Game of Thrones," binge watching other shows, take walks, and read. She also loves Harry Potter. If she were not a teacher she would be a zoo keeper because she loves animals.

Ashe is very happy to be here at WF and is excited about her first year of teaching.
