Math is beautiful to Middleton!
Mr. Alexander Middleton is a new Algebra and Computer Science teacher at WF.
He is originally from Greenville, South Carolina and graduated from Winthrop University as a Math major and with a minor in Computer Science.
This year is his third year of teaching, but his first year of teaching at WFHS.
Before he came to the WF, he taught two years in Lake City (high school and middle school math). Then he decided to come to the WFHS because of the big math department and to teach computer science.
His favourite part about teaching is helping students understand.
“Math isn’t this super difficult an abstract concept; it’s something that is applicable, usable and it’s actually really beautiful,” Middleton said.
You don’t only learn math in school and never use it again; you can use math in many different ways outside of school. He wants to share his passion from the content with the students. He said he loves the staff and the student pride here.
“West is best; we’re just all part of the same team, ” he said.
