Coretta Casley: there for students in need
“It makes me feel good, happy, and excited”, said Coretta Casley about student mental health success. Casley is one of WF's new school-based therapists.
Casley became a school therapist because she wanted to help students with their feelings. She also said she just wants to help people be happy and enjoy life as it is. Being present and being able to listen is a good way of helping people to open up about their feelings and problems. A big problem among some teens today is suicidal thoughts. Casley knows that therapy is a potential solution to this problem.
“It makes me question what could have been done and if they have someone to rely on in their community”, she said about this issue.
A lot of teens don’t have people in their community they can rely on and that’s one of the reasons why Casley wants to help people. She wants to be there for students so they can rely on her to listen to them when they want someone to talk to.
“Stop and breathe there's always a solution to their stress,” Casley said as advice for students.
Casley believes that no matter what there's always a solution to a person's stress. She thinks that there's always a cause and we should always just stop and breathe when we feel stressed. The main objective is to stay calm and relaxed and figure out what is causing the stress and find a way to fix it with a calm mind.
Casley's office is next to the Media Center. She is available to help students through any issues or problems.
