Cummings has jokes and passion for teaching

Mr. Andrew Cummings teaches Human Geography and US History . He has a Bachelor's degree in history and a Master’s degree in social studies education from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. During the interview, we actually started laughing about this because I never heard of anything like that before and he even said whenever people ask him about what university he went to, they will also look at him like I did because few people have heard of it.

This is now Cummings’ 4th or 5th year here at West Florence High School (he couldn’t remember for sure - LOL). Cummings said he loves it, even the kids; he enjoys every bit of it. As someone who was not the best student in high school, he appreciates the opportunity to make the experience better for his students. Cummings’ wife, Michelle Cummings, is also a teacher of social studies here at WF.

As a former student of Cummings’ I can say he is a very nice teacher and he will work with his students. He will especially give students a chance to bring their grades up and do what they have to do so they can pass his class.

Cummings said he likes all of the teachers here at WF, except for Coach Shortall ( LOL). Then he said he was just playing. He said Coach Shortall is “kind of aggravating” but they are really close and are the bestest of friends.

Cummings is one of the best teachers ever. He is funny and even though some of his jokes are a bit corny, he is outgoing and fun. So I really hope one day he will win teacher of the year or something because everybody loves Mr. Cummings.
