Health matters to Henegan
Marsharika Henegan started teaching middle school science in 2000. She has been teaching for over 20 years at many different levels, such as in hospitals, public schools, and at the college level.
As a teacher, her goals are having students master the content, know how to apply what is learned about in their lives and demonstrate with their learning on the EOC.
Henegan started teaching at West this August. She decided to teach because of health statistics in SC and around the US. She actually started out as a health educator. Henegan has her Masters in Public Health and was inspired by patients who did not have optimal health outcomes.
Henegan said she believes there is an art to teaching. Henegan loves biology and thinks it's an important subject for students. She sees the school year going fairly smoothly, although she acknowledges the influence of Covid. She also said she is enjoying West Florence.
“The faculty, staff and administrators are great!” she said.
So, how long does Henegan plan on teaching here at WF?
“My kids are 3 and 7, so a very, very long time! LOL,” she said.
On a more personal note, Hengan's favorite foods are Indian and Japanese and her favorite color is silver.
