Hilton helpful in many ways
Katrina Hilton is a Wilson High School graduate, from the class of 1978. Hilton Graduated from FMU in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science and a major in Mathematics. She taught school for three years, took a break for 19 years, and has been back since 2005. She now teaches Honors and CP Geometry here at WF. She got certified to teach when she first graduated from college.
Hilton said she chose to teach math because of one of her own math teachers who taught her in high school, whose name was Mrs. Fleck. Hilton thought of Mrs. Fleck as a very inspirational teacher.
Some students feel that way towards Hilton.
“She is a very inspirational teacher because of the way she teaches us,” Jack Kitchens, sophomore said.
Others agreed.
¨She is the best teacher in the world and makes sure that we know what is going on in the classroom," Avion McBride, sophomore, said.
Hilton’s favorite part about teaching is the relationships that she forms with each and every student.
¨I come in ready to teach, but also ready to have a lot of interruptions, and lots of questions that don’t have anything to do with math, but I am also here to help solve problems that have to do with life,” Hilton said.
Hilton brings a wealth of knowledge in the classroom. She provides her students with a sense of comfort because when needed, she aids students in grasping the skills that the students need to receive.
Outside of school Hilton has two kids and has been married for 30 years. During her free time she loves to spend time with her family. She also loves to watch television.
