Hobgood named SCCTM President
Mrs. Alisa Hobgood was recently named president of the SCCTM (South Carolina Teachers of Math). Hobgood is currently an AP Calculus and Algebra 2 teacher. Mrs Hobgood has been teaching for 20 years at West. Before becoming president, she was Vice President for the council; she actually ran against one of her friends for the position of President.
As president of the SCCTM, Hobgood has many duties. She is in charge of the big statewide conference held in Greenville. She leads meetings monthly.
“I’m really honored to be chosen as president, [but] if my friend would’ve won I wouldn’t have been upset,” Hobgood said. Her colleagues here at WF are very supportive and proud of her efforts.
“We are extremely proud of her and this prestigious honor that is bestowed upon her,” said Sherry Young, assistant principal and administrator for the Math Department.
Hobgood’s students recognize her as a really good math teacher.
“She’s a really great teacher; I love her,” said Keidrian Brockington, Senior. They appreciate her for her efforts to go above and beyond to help them understand the math concepts.
“She’s helps us when we need it,” said Shakeem White, Senior. Students also recognize that the rigor of her class has a purpose for their futures.
“Her class is hard but it is worth it,” said Reese Inabinet, Senior.
So when you see Hobgood in the halls, make sure you congratulate her!
