Livesay: Individuals = team
“My motivation is a love for competition and to see a group of individuals develop and come together as a team,” Nathan Livesay said.
Livesay is the new basketball coach for the West Florence basketball team and the new Apex computer instructor. He grew up in Tennesee and his experiences with school were always good.
“I was a good student and was able to play football, baseball, and basketball,” Livesay said.
His favorite subjects in school were history and English and he went to King College in Bristol, Tennessee. After high school, Livesay moved to South Carolina to work on the basketball staff at AC Flora High School. Sports and helping people have always been his passions throughout life. He has worked for a non-profit organization called World Orphans for six years.
“I worked to develop and oversee economic empowerment programs in Haiti, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Uganda,” he said.
Livesay loves to travel and he said he loves his family. He is married with three kids and has traveled to nine countries in the last decade.
“I have a long list of places I would like to go when the world gets back to normal,” he said.
When it comes to coaching basketball, he is a firm believer that habits, character skills, and behaviors are necessary for success on the court and in life. He says that discipline and hard work are required for success on and off the court.
“Every team is different so goals will be different each year,” said Livesay. His teams always want to reach their full potential and get better each day so that they are playing their best at the end of the season.
“The greatest player of all time, Michael Jordan, is my favorite basketball player,” Livesay said about his role model in basketball.
