Mom Undercover: Tanner does it all!

Computer Operator Kristen Tanner is a new staff member at West Florence High School but this isn’t the first time she has worked in the schools; she has also worked at South Florence High School, in the same position. She graduated from West Florence High School. Tanner went to Dacula High School in Dacula, Georgia, but her senior year she became a knight. She participated in cheerleading and softball. Tanner broke her arm the day before tryouts; she was a tumbler and she couldn’t do that with a broken arm so that was altering event in her life.

Tanner is now a single mother of a 7 year old daughter. She said her academic strength is writing. Writing meets her strength of computer technology and seem to go along very well.

“When I get to writing it’s so hard to be stopped," she said.

Her academic weakness is Math; she said she can’t stand the numbers. When Tanner was in high school she said “my hardest was geometry and I stopped there.”

When Tanner isn’t in school she loves to spend time with her daughter and have a girls'

day out. She said she defines the term quality, and she said “quality over quantity any day.”

“When I think of quality I think of something good, something positive,” said Tanner.

Tanner’s fears, hopes and dreams revolve all around her daughter. Her fear is not seeing her daughter grow older and have children, and her hopes are to see her daughter grow older, and the same for her dreams. Tanner is very passionate about her daughter and her world revolves around her.

The biggest challenges for Tanner are working and going to school virtually and taking care of her daughter all at once. She is currently taking virtual classes for Medical Billing and Coding. She makes it work and she doesn’t complain. Some aspects of herself she would like to improve is budging and time management. Tanner may be a computer genius but she also an awesome mother.

She has an awesome bond with her daughter and she keeps her pushing everyday. The beginning and ending of her day is with her daughter.

"My daughter is my everything,” said Tanner.
