Perry tries to help WF students however he can

Mr. Rahsaan Perry is one of our most well-known assistant principals for the things he does for students here at West Florence. He said he became an administrator here because he feels as if it gives him an opportunity to make a higher change or help to make progress at life for the kids and parents to whom he tells his life stories, hoping they may inspire others to do more good.

Some of those stories are tied to things he has experienced or places he has visited. Perry loves to eat Turkish cake, and he recommended trying Greek food, too. He has a long history with Greek food; when it's a holiday he loves going to his mom’s for the “rola” she makes. He has also once enjoyed seeing the waters of Germany; he said it was a good place to visit once.

Perry likes to travel a lot because he likes to learn about new places and new things interest him a great deal. He also likes to see how people and their everyday lives go in a city they live in for years! He likes to try new foods anytime he does travel.

Perry said he loves interacting with people but the one thing he dislikes is close minded people; they tend to get under his skin. He never judges people by their race, gender, or looks. Everyone has their own way of going about their looks. He thinks everyone should have a right to that.

Perry is considered a good guy by many but he feels like if there was something he could change, maybe it would be how blunt he is with people. Anytime he speaks he talks with honesty but perhaps a little too much to the point. He doesn't like when people try to sugarcoat things or try to say it in another way.

Perry considers some of his greatest achievements as getting his Bachelor’s degree and graduating with his Master’s degree. They were both cherished moments of his life.

The issue that concerns Perry the most in and outside school is electronics.

“Even though they benefit us, they may be our own problems,” he said. Everything revolves around them so much and it affects kids' minds very badly. All they seem like they're doing is just putting their eyes to the phone. They can't live their lives fully with a phone; they need to be more active or more open about it. If there were less things put on the internet that would change society for the better.

Perry likes the job he works here at WF; the main reward that he gains from it is doing what's best for the kids.

¨Knowing that I can help and provide for students here at West Florence makes me feel as if I have achieved something that no one else could,¨ said Perry.
