Prommasit encourages students to find their own way

“You always have to find something to work towards,” said Julie Prommasit, WF English teacher. Prommasit is a sweet and independent woman who served as a Marine and is now giving back to the community as a teacher.

“The main obstacle in the military is that there are a lot of men that don’t accept women but it’s improving,” Julie Prommasit said. The military made her independent and she got to meet lots of people.

She is originally from Florida but came to Florence for a better job. This is Prommasit’s 23rd year teaching here at WF; she has taught English 1,2,3 and 4. She has taught in New Orleans, and at the Alternative School. She is married and has two sons, her mother, sister and aunt.

Prommasit believes that Covid is very real and that we should take precautions and take the vaccine when available.

“I haven’t been to the gym, only eaten at restaurants twice and lots of takeout,.” said Prommasit.

Mrs. Prommasit loves reading and traveling. She went to Europe in 2014 and can’t wait to go back.

Prommisit’s goal is to make sure she can have a good life after she retires and go see her sons and her mom. She describes herself as eclectic; she doesn’t fit into one category and can’t describe herself as one type.

What has brought her a brighter meaning to life is, “we have to help each other; we are all so connected it is our duty to help everyone, If we all had that outlook where Christ said love one another and applied that to everything the world would be such a better place,” she said.

Mrs. Prommasit was so kind to speak with and she ended with some really good advice for working through life and being true to oneself

“It's okay if the first goal doesn't work. It's okay to change your mind,” she said.
