Wonderful staff of West: Dr. Sandy Coward - media specialist, mom, artist, singer, and much more!
Re-Introducing Dr. Sandy Coward, who works in the library at West Florence High School. This is Coward’s 20th year teaching at WFHS; that's a really long time! Coward enjoys working at WFHS, and interestingly, she actually started here as a student teacher. She later went back to school and got her Master's degree and doctorate. She is currently one of WF's two media specialists.
Coward is a very sweet person who loves to sing, read, and draw. In her free time Coward loves to landscape. She also recently won second place in the district's Vocal Star competition among employees. Coward has one daughter; she is an 8th grader who goes to Kings Academy. Coward's daughter, Taylor, has played many sports.
“I think it’s important for a parent to be there for your child, it’s also important to invest in your child,” said Coward. Catch Coward at Taylor’s games many times a week.
Coward loves to also read. She enjoys mystery/investigation/suspense novels. Coward also loves to read Sherlock Holmes and Mark Twain books .
“I love his humor and the local colors that he [Twain] uses,” she said.
Coward is also a fan of healthy foods. She likes to create her own acai bowls for food. She said they give her good energy.
“ It’s like fuel for your car; you just need energy,” said Coward.
Coward thinks Covid-19 has taken away joyful moments for students. Cowards also think it's sad when they take group pictures and they all have to wear masks. She hopes for a sense of normalcy soon. Catch Coward in the library working hard and accomplishing things that need to get done.
